The team opened its anniversary season Oct. 17, and the calendar is full of theme nights and a Nov. 13-15 Fan Fest |

For generations of Fort Wayne families, a winter night at Memorial Coliseum has meant one thing: Komets hockey.
This season, the team is marking a milestone, because it has begun its 75th consecutive season of Komets hockey.
The Komets are Fort Wayne's professional hockey team, an ECHL club that describes itself as a proud affiliate of the Edmonton Oilers.
This guide pulls together what the team has published about the new season, the promotions on the calendar and how to buy tickets.
An anniversary season opens with a nod to 1952
The Komets opened the 2026-27 season on Saturday, Oct. 17, against the Toledo Walleye at Memorial Coliseum.
WANE reported that both teams wore throwback jerseys honoring their first meeting back in 1952, a fitting touch for a rivalry that goes back that far.
For the opener, the Walleye were billed as the Toledo Mercurys, and the puck dropped at 7:35 p.m.
The Komets won 6-3 in front of 9,296 fans at the Allen County War Memorial Coliseum, according to the team's news release.
The team's first road game is Friday, Oct. 23, in Bloomington, before it returns home to face Indy on Saturday.
The team's website also notes that the Komets reached the 2026 Kelly Cup Playoffs last spring, with the franchise's 606th playoff game played at the Coliseum in April.
Promotions on the home calendar
The next home game is Saturday, Oct. 24, against the Indy Fuel at 7:35 p.m., billed as 90's Night.
The Komets will wear the 1992-93 fireball jersey for the first time this season.
The first 1,000 fans receive a Komets slap bracelet, and the promotions include a throwback poster series giveaway, a limited-edition T-shirt series and Chuck-A-Puck Night.
On Friday, Oct. 30, the Komets host the Wheeling Nailers at 7:35 p.m. for RemedyLIVE Mental Health Awareness Night.
The Nailers return to the Central Division this season, and the Komets host them for the first of six regular-season meetings that night, according to the team.
That night also features a Marathon Fill-Up Card buy-one-get-one ticket offer.
On Halloween, Saturday, Oct. 31, the Komets host Toledo at 3 p.m. with an on-ice Halloween costume parade during the first intermission.
That game is also a Kids Seat Free Night. |

The 75th anniversary Fan Fest
The biggest event of the year is the 75th Anniversary Fan Fest, scheduled for Nov. 13 through 15.
The team describes it as four events over three days celebrating 75 seasons.
It begins Friday, Nov. 13, with Hockey Night at the Grand Wayne, a VIP panel and mixer with Komets Legends from across the decades, starting at 6:15 p.m.
Tickets are on sale, and the first 200 purchased include a commemorative Komets bobblehead.
On Saturday, Nov. 14, Komet Kon takes place at 1 p.m. in Memorial Coliseum Expo III and is free for fans of all ages.
Visitors can meet Komets Legends, view a curated display of 75 years of team history and try interactive activities from the Hockey Hall of Fame.
That evening, the Komets host Toledo for 75th Anniversary Weekend at 7:35 p.m., with Komets Legends welcomed back, a poster giveaway and a Kids Seat Free Night.
On Sunday, Nov. 15, the Komets host Cincinnati at 5:05 p.m. for a Hall of Fame Induction Ceremony, with a post-game skate listed.
Later in November

The Nov. 28 game against Toledo has a revised start time of 8 p.m., according to the team's announcement.
