If you want a real scare before Halloween ends, Fort Wayne's haunted attractions are open for one more weekend of October.

Here is what published schedules say about haunted houses in Fort Wayne and nearby, along with the details worth confirming before you buy a ticket.

These are scare attractions, not the merry-not-scary kind, so check each one's age guidance before bringing children.

Hysterium Haunted Asylum

Hysterium Haunted Asylum is at 4410 Arden Drive in Fort Wayne.

The Journal Gazette's weekly calendar lists hours of 7 p.m. to midnight on Fridays and Saturdays and 7 to 10 p.m. on Thursdays, with $25 tickets and a closing date of Nov. 7.

Halloween night falls on a Saturday this year, but the calendar does not list special hours, and past seasons have used different hours on Halloween, so confirm before you go.

Visit Fort Wayne calls it one of Indiana's top haunts, and the Haunted Attraction Association named it among the best haunts in the country in 2023, WANE reported.

One third-party haunt directory rates it very scary and suggests ages 10 and older, so treat that as a rough guide rather than a rule.

Haunted Castle and Black Forest

The Haunted Castle and Black Forest is listed as open Thursday through Saturday, Oct. 29 to 31, according to its ticketing page.

Hours are 7 to 9 p.m. on Thursday and 7 to 11 p.m. on Friday and Saturday.

All parking and drop-offs are at St. Vincent School, 1720 E. Wallen Rd., and bags, backpacks and purses are not allowed through security.

WANE reported in an earlier roundup that the castle has operated since 1980 and that each of its attractions takes about 30 minutes.

The Journal Gazette lists admission at $15, but its street number differs from the ticketing page, so rely on the ticketing page's address.

Worth the drive: Columbia City and Wabash

The Columbia City Haunted Jail at 116 E. Market St. is listed Fridays and Saturdays from 7 to 11 p.m. and most other days from 7 to 9 p.m., with $25 tickets and a closing date of Nov. 8.

WANE notes that the attraction sits inside the city's old jail, built in 1875.

In Wabash, The Nightmare Factory lists five attractions from 7 to 11 p.m. at 200 Chestnut St., with tickets starting at $35, but it closes Oct. 31.

For adults, and for the less brave

Adults 21 and older can find Halloween pop-ups, including Copper Spoon's Nightmare Before Miracle bar, which Visit Fort Wayne says opened Oct. 9, and Black Lagoon at Night Train.

Prefer puzzles to jump scares? Visit Fort Wayne also lists local escape rooms and more events for horror lovers.

For daytime plans, see our guide to trick-or-treat hours, or catch the Komets' 3 p.m. Halloween game with its on-ice costume parade.

Visit Fort Wayne's Halloween guide has more family options.

Before you go

Hours, prices and closing dates can change, so check each attraction's own website or social pages the day you go.

Plan for outdoor lines and cold weather, and wear comfortable shoes.

Ask about age guidance, accessibility and any strobe lights, fog or loud effects if someone in your group is sensitive.

If you are driving to Columbia City or Wabash, allow extra travel time and plan a safe ride home.
