Fort Wayne Farmers Markets: Where to Shop on Saturdays, Even in Winter |
Saturday markets in Fort Wayne keep going into winter, and some change locations in November |

Saturday mornings at the farmers market are a Fort Wayne habit for many of us, and you do not have to give up fresh produce when the weather turns cold.
Several of the area's best-known markets keep going through the colder months, and a few simply change addresses.
Here is a practical look at three Saturday markets, based on the current listings at Visit Fort Wayne.
Barr Street Market (YLNI Farmers Market)
The YLNI Farmers Market, long known as the Barr Street Market, is open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. year-round.
The listing highlights fresh produce, unique shopping stands and live entertainment.
From May through October, it sets up at the corner of Wayne and Barr streets downtown.
From November through April, it moves to the Parkwest Shopping Center at 3811 Illinois Rd., with the same Saturday hours.
Last year, WANE reported that the market stayed outdoors through October and made the move on Nov. 1, so check with the organizer for this year's switch date.
Summit City Farmers Market
The Summit City Farmers Market at Electric Works is also open Saturdays from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
In summer it sets up in Dynamo Alley, and from October through May it moves indoors to the Union Street Market.
Visit Fort Wayne notes that shoppers receive two hours of free parking.
The market is described as producer-only, with farm and garden goods, homemade food, natural products and crafts. |

South Side Farmers Market
The South Side Farmers Market at 3300 Warsaw St. is open Saturdays from 8 a.m. to 1 p.m., from Easter through mid-December.
Visit Fort Wayne describes it as one of the oldest continually operated markets in the city, with around 100 stands.
Its in-season produce and handcrafted items make it a pleasant stop for a morning of errands.
Note that it opens an hour earlier than the other two, so plan accordingly.
The market's phone number is 260-310-9499 if you have questions.
Good to know before you go
Double Up Indiana lists farmers markets that accept EBT cards for produce purchases, which can be a helpful resource.
If you are chasing pumpkins and apples, Hardy's Farm Market at 4525 Knoll Rd. lists its fall market as closing in October.
Schmucker's Produce Market in New Haven lists hours of 9 a.m. to 5 p.m. on Mondays, Wednesdays, Fridays and Saturdays through November.
Another listed option is Cedar Creek Produce in Leo-Cedarville, which sells produce, pumpkins, gourds, squash, syrup and honey, though its posted hours run May through October.
The Allen County Marketplace held its 2026 dates from May through Sept. 12, so it has wrapped up for the year.
Dress for the weather, since some markets are held outdoors until fall ends.
Because hours and locations shift with the seasons, it is wise to confirm details on each organizer's page before you head out.
Together, these markets give you a Saturday option in nearly every season.
If you are new to the markets, a first visit is a nice way to meet the growers and bakers behind the products.
A Saturday morning stroll through a market can be an easy way to stock the kitchen and support neighbors at the same time. |
